Since WhatsApp’s inception in 2009 it has been an ad free platform, but that’s all about to change in 2019. WhatsApp has over 1.5 billion users worldwide and has over 450 million users daily and Facebook plans to take advantage of these numbers the only way they know how, by adding WhatsApp as another one of its ad placements.

“How will Facebook target people on WhatsApp?” well Facebook hasn’t released details on how it will all work but we believe that they will find a way to get the user to link their Facebook account to their WhatsApp by getting people to share the WhatsApp status they just posted, on other platforms such as Instagram or Facebook or link the phone number from a user’s Facebook or Instagram profile to a WhatsApp account.
